My art is about the smoothing or accentuating of the complexities that are behind the veil of regular; in the process of making, and on the visual surface. I intentionally absorb life, stories, and experiences, and subconsciously watch them unfold onto the canvas. My paintings are playful and dynamic, moody and uncertain. My lines dance to and from places unknown, flowing in and out of visibility. The language spoken is of patterns, forms, and fractals, and how they are all around us, sometimes visible, sometimes undetectable. I am interested in creating ethereal spaces that feel familiar and yet completely otherworldly, using the richness of layering and the relationship between line and paint to ask questions of peace, stillness, and the depths of it all.
Tracie attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in architecture. After several years of architectural work, her desire to shape environments shifted to the visual arts. She has shown her work at galleries in Los Angeles, New York City, Vancouver, and Shanghai. One of her first major projects was a series of paintings for Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and her paintings are now in public and private collections all over the world. Tracie feels fortunate to be pursuing art full-time, and navigating work and life alongside her husband, sculptor Eóin Burke, and their son in New England.
